TUSCANY TOUR

TUSCANY TOUR

The Tuscany tour was one of our favorites of the season. Surely, the cars got pretty dusty having to cross some white roads, but at least one of the participants who arrived with the Yaris GR didn’t miss the opportunity to test the rally capabilities of his car. For us with open cars, it was less fun having to clean the car upon returning home, but it was worth it.

Thursday - Welcome to Buonconvento

The gathering started on Thursday evening at Hotel Pieve a Salti in Buonconvento. This location proved to be perfect, situated in a great position that allowed for exploring the streets of Tuscany, away from the usual tourist places. The evening began with a warm welcome and an extraordinary three-course dinner right at the hotel, giving the participants the opportunity to socialize and anticipate the adventure that awaited them. We also managed to see a dreamy sunset.

Friday - Discovering San Galgano

The next morning, after a rich breakfast with products from the farm, the main group left the hotel at 9:15 AM for San Galgano. After a short stop at the Abbey to stretch their legs, the journey continued to a beautiful Agriturismo for lunch. Here, the participants enjoyed the typical delicacies of Tuscany. In the afternoon, some of the group chose to visit either Volterra or Siena, two cities rich in history and culture. Others opted for relaxation by the pool, aided by the summer temperatures of a very unusual October!

Saturday - The Magic of Val D'Orcia

The Saturday started off towards Val D’Orcia. We were surprised by the fog at the beginning, but around 10:00 the sky cleared up and gave us a spectacular view of the picturesque Tuscan hills. After a brief coffee break, the group headed towards Mount Amiata for lunch. This place had a completely different landscape that amazed all the participants, as it felt like they had been teleported to the Black Forest. The succession of curves immersed among the trees with autumnal colors was one of the highlights of this tour. In the afternoon, the visit to Montalcino offered further opportunities to admire the jewels of Tuscany and to buy some local wine. Instead, some participants preferred to relax in the hotel pool, preparing for the group dinner.

Sunday - Discovering the Crete Senesi

The last day of the gathering was dedicated to the Crete Senesi. The fog appeared again at the beginning of the journey, but it did not diminish the enthusiasm of the participants. After the first hour of fog, the group headed for the Chiantigiana. A visit to the Monteriggioni winery introduced the participants to the Tuscan gastronomic treasures, with a typical tasting lunch. The tour ended after lunch and in the afternoon, the visit to Monteriggioni represented a worthy conclusion to this motoring adventure.

In conclusion, the tour of Tuscany was the icing on the cake to conclude the season of Delightful Driving. The combination of scenic roads, delicious Tuscan cuisine and historic places made this event a memory to be cherished forever.
