Sardinia isn’t just a dream destination for its beaches and landscapes — it’s also a true paradise for driving lovers. That’s why we set off for a sports car tour of Sardinia, scouting the island’s most panoramic and exciting roads. Three days of curves, views, and local flavors that may become our official Delightful Driving itinerary for 2026.
Here’s how it went.
For me, Sardinia is a familiar place: I’ve been coming here since I was a child, but I had never truly explored it on four wheels, far from the summer heat. This spring, I took the opportunity to test some of the island’s most beautiful roads.
Day 1 — From San Teodoro to Oristano
We set off from Amoreddu, in San Teodoro — which, let me say, is the best bed and breakfast in all of Sardinia (spoiler: it’s run by my mom).
Our route took us toward Tempio Pausania, on roads surrounded by greenery and peaceful landscapes. We stopped for lunch at a traditional agriturismo near Tiesi, then continued toward Alghero.
We drove the famous Alghero-Bosa route, one of Italy’s most stunning coastal roads, with curves that follow the sea’s edge.
We arrived in Oristano in the evening, where we stopped for dinner.
Day 2 — Into the Sardinian heartland
In the morning we set off again, crossing the inland: mountains, low mist, and quiet roads. Between Tonara and Fonni, we found authentic scenery and a few surprises on the way — animals roaming free, adding to the raw experience.
Lunch was in Bari Sardo, at a local seafood restaurant.
In the afternoon, we hit the legendary SS125, a road that cuts along the coast with spectacular views. The day ended with a beachside aperitif at Poetto before arriving in Cagliari for dinner.
Day 3 — From coast to inland again
We departed from Cagliari, passing along the old EX125 to San Priamo. The next stop was Arbatax, where we had a seaside lunch.
In the afternoon, we took on the stunning Dorgali-Baunei road, where sea and mountain views alternate with every turn — a dream route for analog driving lovers.
