From the Peaks to the Coast: Our First Delightful Driving Spring Tour in the Apennines

FROM THE PEAKS TO THE COAST: OUR FIRST SPRING TOUR THROUGH THE APENNINES

Three days of mountain roads, local trattorias, endless curves, and a Ligurian coast that welcomed us with sunshine and that spring smell that makes you want to roll the windows down and never put them back up.

FRIDAY — WARM-UP

We kicked things off gently: afternoon meet-up in Pontremoli, car park chats, first peeks under the hoods, and then a relaxed dinner with local starters and a round of cold cuts. A good way to ease into the tour, between familiar faces and new ones.

SATURDAY — CURVES, WOODS, AND THE SEA

Saturday, things got serious. Early start and straight to Passo della Cisa — one of those roads that never gets old. Smooth ups and downs, solid tarmac, and landscapes slowly waking up from winter.

After cruising through Val Taro and checking off our first-ever run over Passo del Tomarlo (solid debut), we headed toward Liguria. And that’s where the switch flipped. From 12°C at the mountain lodge to full-on beach mode with people in swimsuits. Total change of scenery.

But the real star of the day was Passo del Bracco. Our first time there, and it instantly became a favorite. Wide road, nice flow, and sea views popping in here and there. We’ll be back.

Back to Pontremoli, quick shower, and straight to dinner. Because one thing you can always count on in our tours: a proper evening meal and the chance to relive the best driving moments of the day together.

SUNDAY — LUNIGIANA & CERRETO, A STRONG FINISH

Sunday opened with Passo del Lagastrello, followed by a run to Passo del Cerreto. Well-paced curves, hardly any traffic. A classic route for real enthusiasts, weaving through green woods and wide-open views.

Final lunch by Lago del Cerreto — the perfect spot for a proper “see you next time” before heading back home.

The season started just right. Passo del Bracco gets a big thumbs-up from the Delightful Drivers. Great roads, ideal weather, and a tour that hit all the right notes both behind the wheel and beyond.
Next up: the Dolomites.
